Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary position.

The Events Coordinator, under the direction of the Operations Director and/or Supervisor, will assist with external rental and other miscellaneous events held at the College's facilities, as required by the Campus Operations Department.


Typical Duties

The events coordinator must have and practice an equity mindset. The coordinator must be willing to take personal and institutional responsibility to continually assess and discuss policies and standard practices and/or processes, as required of the position.

The events coordinator, under direction of the operations director and/or supervisor, will greet and serve as the official liaison for visiting teams, officials, emergency personnel, media, community groups, and/or other organizations using American River College facilities. They will also assist with event set-up requirements when needed, including unlocking and securing facilities. They will be responsible for notifying police or the operations director and/or supervisor if anyone using American River College facilities, upon observation, is not complying with the facility use permit, rules, regulations, terms and conditions of use.

  • Storage of material goods
  • Usher
  • Assist the chain gang crew for football
  • Announcer
  • Scoreboard operation
  • Scoreboard keeper
  • All other organizational duties as assigned
Knowledge of:
  • Effective customer service skills
  • The structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, and rules for correspondence and report writing at the level required to effectively perform the duties of the position
  • Principles and practices of effective communication
  • Arithmetic at the level required to effectively perform the duties of the position
Special Requirements:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license to operate district vehicles
  • Must follow safety procedures and safe work practices related to the duties of the position
  • Perform physically demanding labor that may include standing and maneuvering for long periods of time
  • Work in an outside environment subject to inclement weather conditions
  • Work with solvents, glues, adhesives, cleaning and degreasing solutions and other chemicals
  • Reach, grasp, pull, push, and carry various equipment and furniture across various types of surfaces
  • Frequent maneuvering, stooping, crouching, bending at waist and knees
  • Lift and/or carry heavy objects, up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, from floor level to above shoulder level
  • Climb and descend 816 foot ladders and/or stairs, with heavy objects with or without assistance
  • Wear personal protective and safety equipment when appropriate and/or required, including a respirator
  • Operate and manipulate hand, electric and other types of tools and equipment related to the duties of the position
  • Exposure to sharp blades from tools and equipment
The temporary position will perform related duties as required.
