Environmental Technician - Lead

Location: Oak Harbor, Washington - Naval Air Station Whidbey Island

Type: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Day Shift

Compensation: $50.20-$50.20/hour

Tessera is seeking an experienced and hardworking Environmental Technician- Lead. The Environmental Technician- Lead willworkunder the Environmental Manager toassistin examining all environmental documentation and operations for conformity toestablishedNavy Environmental requirements.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Lead environmental technicians towardsassisting, developing, implementing, andmonitoringenvironmental control programs. Lead the environmental technicians in complianceofcontract requirements to achieve environmental management and sustainability practices.

  • Confirmthe Navy customer receives an environmentally compliant product and service.

  • Assure environmental technician inspections are performed on completed contract work and documented to ensure final product meets all environmental specifications.

  • Manage proper environmental documentation for presentation to government for final acceptance.

  • Audit and analyze maintenance documents, historical files, and inspection records to note any trends or recurring discrepancies forinitiatingenvironmental corrective action plans.

  • Produce environmental deficiency reports that are clear, concise, and comprehensive.

  • Inspect SOPs and ISO processesmeetcontractual environmental guidelines.

  • Sustain continued monitoring andmeasurement ofinformation that addresses the Environmental Management System (EMS) goals and policy. Provide EMS Goals and Achievements to Skookum and Environmental Manager. Make recommendations on how to achieve EMS goals.

  • Assistin managing all environmental corrective and/or preventative actions, take corrective actionsimmediatelyto remedy non-compliances.

  • Provide employees with training so they are aware of their roles and responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).Reporthow EMS issues affect work performed under the contract.

  • Comply withall applicable Federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and executive orders, and with base-wide instructions, standards, and permit requirements.

  • Manage andleadapplicable environmental and occupational health and safety training. Assure it is kept up to date on regulatoryrequiredspecific training for the type of work to be conducted onsite.

  • Assistwith data or reporting thatsupportsthe Environmental Protection Plan (EPP). The EPP shall address environmental compliance and compliance procedures as they pertain to the execution of the contract.

  • Instruct and recommend how the maintenance programs areadheredtoestablishedrules including following environmental requirements and standards, equipmentmanufacturerecommendations, environmental regulations, and commercially accepted practices.

  • Assist the Environmental Manager with strategies and methods for conductingsafe, effective, and environmentally sound pest management programs and Protected Species Disposition.

  • Support the Environmental Manager with operational information and data as needed for the environmental permits and renewal processes.

  • Provide current,accurateand complete operating records, stationlogsand reports to meet all environmental regulations and operation permit requirements in support of the Environmental Manager.

  • Responsible forpersonneltraining, qualifications, technical knowledge,experienceand skillsrequiredfor efficient operations within the environmental function of this contract.

  • Environmental Technician Lead shall make recommendations forappropriate environmentalactions to the Environmental Manager. Must also Communicate professionally and courteously with customers.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Environmental experience required.

  • Must be able to complete the Defense Hazardous Materials/Waste Handling Course (HAZWOPR) or similar.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.

  • OSHA series training preferred.

  • Mustpossessrequired environmental certifications relevanttothe job.

Physical Requirements:

Employees must have the ability to perform the following physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance. The physical demands of this position may be reasonably accommodated for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions on a case-by-case basis.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.

  • May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours at a time based on position duties.

  • Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, and walking. Standing or sitting for several hours at a time, climbing in and out of a vehicle, and up and down stairs may also be required.

  • Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.

Requirements:

  • A valid state driver's license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera's insurance.
