POSITION SPECIFICS

University Health Services is seeking applicants for a Health Information Manager.

The Health Information Manager leads the unit's health records department and ensures that office procedures, as well as rules and regulations governing the collection and maintenance of healthcare data, are followed. This position maintains up-to-date knowledge on emerging trends in Health Information Management/Healthcare IT specific to medical record management.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the unit's healthcare records department; communicate goals, objectives, and initiatives to staff and ensure their compliance with relevant state and federal regulations

  • Oversee the department's documentation processes, including planning, organizing, and directing the collection, retrieval, disclosure, storage, and destruction of protected health information (PHI)

  • Assign staff duties and responsibilities; develop and implement new unit policies and procedures

  • Ensure medical records standards are met; develop, implement, monitor, measure, evaluate, analyze, and adjust department quality initiatives to ensure compliance with quality standards

  • Review, test, and make recommendations for the use and purchase of new electronic health record software modules

  • Serve as liaison to campus health team on records management issues

  • Review and authorize record disclosures and consult with the University's Office of General Counsel on complex attorney, subpoena, law enforcement, and power of attorney issues

  • May manage and oversee the delivery of specific compliance programs

  • Interview, hire, train, and evaluate workforce staff

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - American Health Information Management Association

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
