Help shape the future of affordable housing. As Deputy Director of Housing Initiatives, you'll drive highimpact housing and voucher programs that expand access, strengthen systems, and improve lives by turning vision into real, lasting outcomes.

The Deputy Director of Housing Initiatives supports the implementation and improvement of affordable housing and voucher programs, providing operational and people leadership that advances equitable access to stable, affordable housing. Working closely with senior leadership, this role oversees daytoday program operations, strengthens performance and compliance, and collaborates with internal teams and external partners to improve resident outcomes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Programmatic and Operational Leadership

  • Support the execution of organizational priorities related to affordable housing and voucherprogram initiatives.
  • Lead daytoday planning, implementation, and refinement of housing programs, including pilot initiatives and program enhancements.
  • Assist senior leadership in assessing emerging opportunities and providing operational insight to inform longterm housing strategy.
  • Apply subjectmatter expertise in housing stability and rental assistance to support effective and compliant program delivery.
Program Oversight and Performance
  • Provide oversight for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) initiatives, projectbased vouchers, and related rental assistance programs.
  • Monitor program performance, compliance, and quality assurance, recommending and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Support strategies to improve voucher utilization, landlord participation, and participant experience.
  • Promote residentcentered program design that reflects community needs and supports longterm housing stability.
  • Utilize data and reporting to inform decisionmaking and continuous improvement.
Partnerships and External Engagement
  • Maintain effective working relationships with public housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofit partners, developers, landlords, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in local and regional housing meetings, coalitions, and partner forums.
  • Support crosssector collaborations that strengthen housing systems, expand resources, and improve program outcomes.

Team Leadership and Organizational Support
  • Supervise and support program staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, learning, and equity.
  • Assist with staff onboarding, development, workload management, and crossteam coordination.
  • Support budgeting, grant, contract, and resource tracking for housing initiatives.
  • Ensure daytoday operations align with the organization's mission, values, and strategic direction.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of supervisory or teamlead experience.
  • 3+ years of experience administering public or assisted housing programs.
  • Experience in affordable housing or community development program operations.
  • Working knowledge of Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs and HUDregulated environments.
  • Ability to support program improvement and operational change.
  • Familiarity with LowIncome Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) structures.
  • Experience supporting budget management, grantfunded programs, or contracting.
  • Experience working in crosssector or collaborative housing initiatives.
  • Strong communication and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • Ability to obtain required certifications.
  • Commitment to equity and residentcentered practice.
