Description

General Summary:

To provide CMM programming support and inspection of critical aerospace components which meet company and customer expectations.



  • Identify product for CMM inspection.
  • Develop and write part inspection programs for CMM.
  • Organize and control CMM inspection programs.
  • Troubleshoot product issues and support manufacturing.
  • Train inspection personnel on CMM operation.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Interact professionally with colleagues from Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing.
  • Perform validation activities related to CMM inspection programs.
  • Perform CMM inspection on critical aerospace components as needed.
  • Utilize CMM inspection data to recommend rework activities to machinists when needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:



  • Provide coaching, support, and direction to members of a work team
  • Promote positive employee relations through effective conflict management and issue resolution.
  • Effectively track and report manufacturing process performance
  • Communicate / interact with the Customer
  • 5 years' experience in the programming, operation and full utilization of PCDMIS
  • Possess the ability and necessary skills to train QC personnel in the operation of both manual CMM and CMM.
  • Possess the ability to both evaluate and recommend CMM hardware and software improvements, to improve performance and/or utilization, in a cost-effective approach
  • Effective communicator: possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to directly interface with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and suppliers in CMM with any issues that may arise.
  • Strong organization skills


Education & Experience Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Programming or related field. Alternatively, a special combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated accomplishments.
  • ASQ certification as a Certified Mechanical Inspector or Certified Quality Technician is a plus.
  • 5 years CMM programming experience in the manufacturing industry - aerospace preferred.
  • First piece inspection/layout experience
  • Proficient computer skills are required (PCDMIS, Microsoft Office)
  • CMM set-up, layout inspection, gage calibration,
  • Technical/shop math, blueprint reading (including GD&T).
  • SPC and problem-solving knowledge.
