Wieland is hiring a Logistics Material Handler. The Logistics Material Handler will be responsible for ensuring that all goods being shipped or received are in good condition and in accordance with all received documentation. This role also creates safe, organized walkways and storage locations for everyday items. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $19/hr - $21/hr

Work Schedule: 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2 PM

Pay Schedule: Bi-weekly

Responsibilities

Logistics Material Handler Responsibilities:

    Loads, unloads, and moves material within the plant using an overhead crane. Training to be provided.
  • Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
  • Lifts material with overhead crane or hand jack to various machines or places in the plant.
  • Occasionally uses a forklift to move parts from one division to another.
  • Unpack and organize pre-material and finished areas for safe walkways and good housekeeping.
  • Perform routine inspections on crane chains and straps, and ropes.
  • Report any damages from incoming or outgoing material.
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of Safety, HR, or the Supervisor. Comply with all policies and environmental standards.
  • Report all incidents, including near misses, immediately.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Logistics Material Handler Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • 2 years' experience preferred but will train.
  • Must be able to read bill of ladings and packing lists, and verify accurately what is being shipped/received according to these documents.
  • Ability to work with calipers, micrometers, and other types of testing equipment
  • Previous experience safely operating a crane and walk behind mobile pallet jack is preferred. Willingness to learn and become certified is required if no prior experience.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a team environment.

Logistics Material Handler Physical Demands:

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods. Negotiate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to production environments that are not temperature-controlled.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
  • Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, touch or manipulate items.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
