Postdoctoral Associate- Psychiatry -Behavioral Med- Psycho-Oncology Speciality Be You. We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Associate for the Pain Prevention and Treatment Research Program at Duke University School of Medicine (Division of Behavioral Medicine and Neurosciences, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences). The role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team on NIH- and foundation-funded behavioral clinical trials focused on pain, symptom management, and health promotion in patients with cancer and other chronic diseases. Current projects range from pilot studies to large trials, including telehealth psychosocial interventions for advanced cancer, pain coping skills training for older adults with breast cancer, and a web-based program (PainTrainer) to improve pain and medication adherence in women on aromatase inhibitors. Additional work includes two NCI-funded pilot RCTs: one evaluating a mindfulness-based sleep and symptom intervention for patients with hematologic cancers, and another developing a behavioral intervention to improve engagement in vaginal dilator therapy after pelvic radiation. Position Description: Responsibilities of this job may include providing behavioral pain and symptom management interventions both in person and by videoconferencing to patients with cancer recruited into clinical trials, developing and refining behavioral intervention(s) for clinical trials, conducting data analysis, scientific writing, and high-level coordination and management of clinical trial operations. This position would offer the opportunity to receive supervision and clinical work to lead to licensure in clinical psychology in the state of North Carolina. There is a potential opportunity in this position for involvement in empirical manuscript writing as well as presentation of research findings at local and national meetings. Additionally, as desired by the applicant, this position could offer mentoring for scientific grant writing intending to move the individual toward an independent academic career. In this role, the applicant will function under the supervision of a mentor(s), within a department at Duke University. This is a hybrid in-office and remote position, with at least two required in-person days. This is a full-time position, and the salary is commensurate with experience. Choose Duke.
