A Brief Overview The Safety Specialist leads the enforcement of the Company's safety requirements while promoting a positive safety culture for all associates. This position will implement, monitor, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures. Pay Rate: $65 - $70K annual salary
What you will do
- Act as an information conduit to bring safety issues and information to the attention of management and the Company.
- Serve as Competent Safety Official for the company's installed sales projects and assure that employed and subcontracted installers are trained and compliant with fall protection and other standards.
- Plan, implement, and coordinate continuous improvement programs for hazard identification and reduction or elimination of occupational injuries illnesses, and/or deaths.
- Conduct periodic risk assessment inspections of company locations to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventive measures where necessary.
- Advise management of potential business impacts related to changes in State or Federal safety regulations.
- Monitor and analyze loss experience, identifying trends and targeting loss reduction exposures.
- Maintains First Aid/CPR certification and confirms required numbers of associates are trained per location.
- Participate in the investigation of accidents and injuries, in the gathering of evidence and/or material and in the preparation of reports for company use in hearings, lawsuits, insurance company or governmental regulatory agency investigations.
- Support managers in the timely reporting of workers' compensation, vehicle, and property damage claims.
- Communicate safety goals and incentives and participates in Monthly Safety Steering Committee meetings.
- Ensure all locations hold monthly store/safety meetings & complete safety inspections per company policy.
- Review and monitor monthly inspection reports and meeting minutes for company compliance.
- Administer training materials and programs to ensure that all employees are adequately instructed in safety and health techniques for performing their jobs; conduct training of all new associates on company safety regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure their safety on the job.
- Exercise the authority to stop work immediately in cases of imminent danger or other safety violations warranting such action; removes any improper or defective equipment.
- Oversee or directly test the working area for noise, toxic and other health hazards and makes recommendations for corrective action.
- Comply with Company's attendance policy by maintaining regular and predictable attendance.

Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of Federal OSHA standards and DOT regulations.
- Effective verbal and written communication skill along with demonstrated presentation skill is required.
- Proficiency in MS programs and other, area specific, software as needed.
- Candidate must lead by example and exhibit an entrepreneurial and strategic spirit accompanied with excellent interpersonal skills, strong advocate of promoting quality and continuous process improvement.
- Strong math skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation required.
- First Aid Certification required.
