Job Summary

The Non-Invasive CardiovascularSupervisor provides leadership, coordination, and oversight of daily operations within the Non-Invasive Cardiology department at UNC Health Pardee. This role supports the delivery of safe, high quality, patient centered cardiovascular diagnostic services in alignment with UNC Health's mission, values, and quality standards. The Supervisor collaborates closely with cardiologists, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities And Scope

Clinical & Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily operations of theNon-InvasiveCardiology department, including patient scheduling, staffing coverage, and patient throughput
  • Ensurehighqualityperformance of diagnostic procedures such as:
  • Transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography (TTE/TEE)
  • Stress testing (exercise and pharmacologic)
  • Stress echocardiography
  • EKGs and ambulatory monitoring (Zio/event monitors)
  • Promote adherence to physician orders, established protocols, andevidencebasedpractice
  • Coordinate workflows across outpatient and inpatient settings to support efficient,timelycare

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Supervise and support cardiology technologists, sonographers, and support team members
  • Create and manage staff schedules, including call coverage asrequired
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and ongoing competency validation
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional growth plans
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful work environment that reflects UNC Health values

Quality, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance withIAC, DNV, CMS, and institutional standards
  • Maintain accreditation readiness andrequireddocumentation for noninvasive cardiology services
  • Monitor quality indicators, exam accuracy, patient safety metrics, and satisfaction data
  • Participate in departmental quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Uphold infection prevention, safety, and HIPAA requirements

Equipment, Technology & Resources

  • Oversee theappropriate useand maintenance of noninvasive cardiology equipment
  • Collaborate with vendors, biomedical engineering, and IT for equipment maintenance and upgrades
  • Assistwith capital planning, inventory control, and supply management
  • Support implementation ofnew technologyand workflow enhancements

Administrative & Collaborative Responsibilities

  • Partner with cardiologists, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to support cardiovascular service line goals
  • Assistwith budget monitoring, productivity metrics, and operational reporting
  • Participate in policy development and departmental strategic initiatives
  • Support Epic and other clinical documentation workflows as applicable

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate's orBachelor's degree in Nursing, Cardiovascular Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, or related healthcare field
  • Current professional certification (RDCS, RCS, CCI, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated leadership or lead experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong knowledge of cardiac diagnostic procedures and quality standards
  • BasicLifeSupport Certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Previousexperience in a supervisory or coordinator role
  • Experience with IAC accreditation processes
  • Familiarity with Epic or similar electronic health record systems
  • Excellent communication, organizational, andproblem-solvingskills
