DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will ensure the efficient, continuous operation of the facility's wastewater treatment plant under both routine and emergency conditions. You will oversee and participate in the operation, maintenance, and repair of essential equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, valves, filters, chlorinators, digesters, aerators, grit removal systems, and other related components. Your responsibilities will include supervising and conducting sampling and chemical testing for overall environmental safety. You will schedule and assign work, monitor progress, and review completed tasks to ensure compliance with established procedures and operational standards, whether on a single shift or within a multi-shift environment. In addition, you will train and mentor assigned inmates in the proper operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment systems, assess their performance, and provide direct supervision of plant activities. You will also play a key role in maintaining safe, compliant operations while overseeing inmate participation in the facility's wastewater treatment program.

- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; pass days to be determined.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant.
Special Requirements:
- You must be in possession of a valid certification issued by the Pennsylvania State Board for Certification of Water and Wastewater Systems Operators as a wastewater treatment plant operator that is equal to or higher than a Class C, E Subclass 1, 4.
- This position requires the possession of a valid Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience with Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) type of Wastewater Treatment Plant
