The Team:

The Global Sales and Operations Planning team is a high-impact team that plays an integral role in managing and driving the overall end-to-end Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process. We are responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the S&OP framework and maturity. This process aligns commercial strategies with operational execution to meet market demands, financial goals, and customer expectations.

Through a series of S&OP meetings, the S&OP process at Mattel is a key enabler to improve portfolio efficiency, balance demand and supply, link strategy to execution, and make the right decisions both effectively and timely to ensure profitable growth. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you will have true accountability and collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including executive leadership.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead S&OP Analyst based in our El Segundo office to join the Global Supply Chain Sales & Operations Planning team. This role reports to our Sr. Manager of Global S&OP.

You will play a pivotal part in ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of Mattel's global planning and inventory outcomes.

In this role, you will own the end-to-end calculation and governance of Global Need to Produce (NTP), act as the functional owner of the Blue Yonder ESP planning system and deliver critical inventory and supply insights that support executive and regional decision-making. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Commercial, Brand Marketing, IT, and Analytics teams to translate planning insights into actionable outcomes.

This position is ideal for a highly analytical, systems-savvy professional who thrives in a cross-functional environment and is motivated by connecting strategy to execution at a global scale.

The ideal candidate will have a keen focus on linking organizational strategy to execution, refining and leveraging existing S&OP and analytics platforms and business intelligence tools to help drive insights into action.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Own the global Need to Produce (NTP) calculation, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness within the monthly S&OP cycle
  • Serve as the functional owner of Blue Yonder ESP, partnering with IT and business stakeholders on system enhancements, safety stock optimization, dashboard development, testing, and ongoing support
  • Perform detailed root-cause analysis of supply shortages, match reports, planning gaps, data integrity issues, and new product launch impacts to drive global visibility and corrective action
  • Lead and prepare key elements of the monthly S&OP process, including Regional Supply Management Reviews (SMR), Direct-to-Consumer SMR, and other executive-ready materials
  • Deliver comprehensive inventory health and net inventory analyses - including global Days of Forward Coverage (DFC) in close collaboration with Finance and Regional Planning, proactively identifying risks and recommending mitigating actions
  • Develop and execute scenario planning to assess demand and supply changes, clearly communicating trade-offs, risks, and financial impacts to enable timely, data-driven decisions and manage escalations
  • Drive continuous improvement and automation of S&OP analytics and SMR reporting, promoting process maturity and planning transformation aligned with organizational priorities
  • Act as a trusted cross-functional partner across Global S&OP, Regional Planning, Finance, Supply Chain, and IT, ensuring alignment between system outputs, business expectations, and on-time delivery of S&OP cycle content

What We're Looking For:

Must-Haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations, or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning, or Commercial Operations, including hands-on experience supporting or leading S&OP / IBP processes in a cross-functional environment
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and experience with reporting tools (e.g., Tableau) and planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, Blue Yonder)
  • Comfortable partnering closely with IT and business teams, including acting as a functional owner or key business partner for planning systems
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally and supporting executive-level deliverables
  • Open to occasional travel to collaborate with regional teams

Preferred:

  • MBA or an advanced degree a plus
  • Experience in global consumer products or manufacturing industries
  • Familiarity with S&OP processes and related best practices
  • Experience developing dashboards or automated reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Strong experience working with planning systems and analytics tools; Blue Yonder experience highly preferred
  • Proven ability to operate independently, take ownership of complex problems, and drive solutions end to end in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly analytical and solution-oriented, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify root causes, and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset-curious, ambitious, motivated to continuously learn, improve, and expand impact
