Position Summary

The following description is provided to give a general idea of duties and responsibilities of the position. Workload is demanding and often varied. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
Water Distribution Maintenance (1 position): Performs duties such as operate light equipment/vehicles in assisting in the replacement of residential water meters, assisting on the repair crew, and/or flushing and painting fire hydrants. Assists in inspecting and testing water distribution system. Assists in maintaining, and repairing the water system, water meters, fire hydrants and water service mains. Assists in relocating utility lines and performing new service installations for residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
Casual, Non-represented positions Part - time flexible schedule, limited duration Hours may include overtime and weekends

Education and Experience Combination of education, training or experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA and environmental rules and regulations, particularly in regards to work in confined space and/or hazardous conditions. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instruction and to exchange routine information. Basic understanding of simple work processes, methods or equipment. Ability to learn job-related information and techniques. Ability to learn required physical skills, that must be performed in the course of regular work routines that can be learned on the job over a relatively short period of time. Effective communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Ability to use ordinary conversational skills and courtesy to exchange routine information and provide routine assistance. Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, but also work alone at a work-site, under supervisory direction while performing duties thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with Department policy. Ability to get along well with coworkers and maintain effective work relationships. Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment. Work overtime and on weekends as needed. Special Requirements Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time under adverse weather conditions; climb ladders and stairs; work in confined spaces; stand or walk for extended periods of time; bend, push, and squat; sufficient knowledge and manual dexterity to use hand and power tools. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be 18 years or older.
Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid Oregon Drivers License.
Ability to pass a pre-employment background/criminal history check.
