Perform routine and complex neurodiagnostic procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis of clinical disorders of the nervous system. This role involves working in at least one of the following modalities: Electroencephalography (EEG), Evoked Potentials (EP), or Epilepsy Monitoring (CLTM). As a PRN staff member, you will provide essential coverage to maintain high-quality patient care across various shifts.

Level 1

• 
  

  Perform one END study modality (EEG or Evoked Potentials).

  
  
• 
  

  Explain testing procedures to patients and families using age-appropriate guidelines.

  
  
• 
  

  Accurately document pertinent patient history from the patient or medical chart.

  
  
• 
  

  Set up patients, paperwork, rooms, and equipment for studies.

  
  
• 
  

  Conduct studies with appropriate documentation, troubleshooting equipment and physiological artifacts, and distinguishing normal from abnormal results.

  
  
• 
  

  Recognize and respond to evolving patient care needs.

  
  
• 
  

  Participate in the on-call schedule and work independently on 2nd, 3rd, and weekend shifts, including the EEG OR.

  
  

Level 2

  Perform all duties of Level 1.

  Perform two END study modalities (EEG, Evoked Potentials, Epilepsy Monitoring, or Sleep Lab float).

  Maintain registry in one area (EEG or Evoked Potentials).

  Utilize advanced computer skills to correct file errors, manage networking issues, and append patient studies.

  Assist in developing Clinical Standards and protocols.

  
  

Level 3

• 
  

  Perform all duties of Levels 1 and 2.

  
  
• 
  

  Perform three END study modalities (EEG, Evoked Potentials, Epilepsy Monitoring, Epilepsy OR, or Sleep Lab float).

  Maintain registry in one area; two registries/certifications preferred.

  Act as a "Super User" for equipment, troubleshooting lab issues independently.

  Generate requisitions, process daily charges, and serve as a Charge Tech for a designated number of hours per year.

  Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to diverse testing situations, including clinical and surgical (OR) environments.

  Clinical Judgment: Ability to identify and respond to emergency patient needs during neurodiagnostic testing.

  Maintenance: Ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and communicate technical problems to vendors or supervisors.

  Level 1: Performs one modality; 10 hours of CE annually; 2 professional growth activities.

  Level 3: Performs three modalities; 16 hours of CE annually; 5 professional growth activities.

  
  

Education

• 
  

  Associate's degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Biological, or Health Science (or related field) is strongly preferred.

  
  
• 
  

  Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

  
  

Experience

• 
  

  Level 1: * No experience required with a degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology or a Bachelor's in a related field.

  
  
  
  
  • 
    

    Six months of direct patient care experience required with an Associate's in a general science field.

    
    
  • 
    

    High School diploma requires five years of clinical neurodiagnostic experience plus registry.

    
    
  
  
  
  
• 
  

  Level 2: Two years of experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required.

  
  
• 
  

  Level 3: Five years of experience in Neurodiagnostic Technology required (Bachelor's degree can substitute for two years of experience).

  
  

Degrees, Licensures, and Certifications

  Level 1: Competency or registry/certification in one modality preferred.

  Level 2: Competency in two modalities required; Registry/certification in one modality required.
