This role is well-suited for an experienced stop-loss underwriter who enjoys working on complex cases, influencing outcomes, and serving as a trusted subject-matter expert.

What You'll Do

  • Determine appropriate pricing using multiple tools and methodologies, including the development and application of aggregate factors.
  • Underwrite complex new business and renewal cases, exercising sound judgment within (and occasionally outside) established guidelines.
  • Communicate and negotiate case pricing with Sales, Brokers, and producers to support balanced decisions aligned with profitability and growth goals.
  • Manage an assigned block of business and remain accountable for key performance metrics, including rate adequacy, close ratios, renewal persistency, and service standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex or high visibility cases and supporting peers through mentoring and training.
  • Partner with underwriting leadership on exceptions, customer concerns, and special projects; provide back up support for underwriting leadership as needed.
  • Contribute to underwriting strategy by providing competitive insights and participating in cross training initiatives, RFP responses, and process improvement efforts.
  • Represent Underwriting internally and externally, including travel with Field Representatives and participation in industry or company events when appropriate.
