Following recent departmental alignment and ongoing strategic growth, we are pleased to post a new position in the
EMC program. This is a part-time appointment with clinical teaching responsibilities in the residential program.
We seek candidates who demonstrate their ability to work with, and be sensitive to the educational needs of, first generation, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, and rural populations; and support the University's commitment to

Salary and rank are commensurate with academic qualifications and experience for a regional comprehensive university. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in alignment with North Carolina Office of
EMS (
NCOEMS) requirements and national
EMS education standards.
The instructor will contribute to a student-centered learning environment that emphasizes clinical reasoning, cognitive and psychomotor competency, and professional identity formation. Instructional responsibilities include classroom, laboratory, and simulation modalities.
- Maintain currency and contemporary expertise in the academic discipline through continuing education, scholarship, and/or participation in activities within the profession, including involvement within professional organizations
- Work cooperatively and collegially with all faculty and staff involved in the Emergency Medical Care program, Department, and across the university.
- Submit appropriate artifacts, narratives, and data related to program and continuous improvement.
- Carry out other assignments and duties as assigned by the Program Director, Department Head, and Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.

| Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
- Knowledge of EMS systems, patient care standards, and prehospital clinical practice
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to support diverse learners in a higher education environment
- Understanding of outcomes-based education and continuous quality improvement principles

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Current North Carolina EMT credential (AEMT or Paramedic preferred)
- Approval as an EMS Instructor through North Carolina Office of EMS
- Minimum of 2 years of EMS field experience
- Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification (Instructor preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in emergency medical care, education, or related field
- Prior teaching experience in EMS or allied health education
