Our Ambulatory Surgery and Procedure Center has 10 operating rooms and 6 procedure rooms and last year we cared for over 16,500 patients.

The Surgical Technologist and Preference Card Specialist assists the surgical team in care of patients in the operating room by maintaining aseptic technique, anticipating surgeon needs, managing instrumentation, and ensuring proper counts, specimen handling, and equipment readiness in adherence to standards of practice in collaboration with an OR RN.They will be responsible for coordinating with OR Team Leads and interdisciplinary staff to develop, maintain, and standardize surgical preference cards that promote efficiency in our high volume ASC. This includes identifying opportunities for cost savings, waste reduction, and improved operational efficiency. They will partner closely with supply chain and clinical teams to organize product conversions, backorders, substitutions, and discontinued items. They will utilize the electronic medical record to maintain precise and updated preference cards, inventory locations, and equipment records to minimize case delays, picking errors, and documentation discrepancies.

What you will do as a Surgical Technologist and Preference Card Specialist:

  • Serves as scrub person during operative procedures
  • Anticipates surgeon's needs
  • Supplies appropriate instruments, suture and specialty items.
  • Maintains aseptic technique during all sterile procedures.
  • Assures proper identification and handling of specimens.
  • Completes all required sponge, sharps and instrument counts.
  • Assists in transfer/positioning of patients.
  • Assures availability and proper functioning of supplies and equipment.
  • Assembles and adjusts equipment.
  • Cleans, replenishes and sterilizes instruments and supplies as needed.
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize surgical preference cards.
  • Communicate product conversions, backorders, substitutions, discontinued items, and integration of new supplies, implants, and equipment.
  • Maintain updated preference cards, item numbers, item locations, and item inventory.

What you will need:

  • 2 years of operating room experience with knowledge of AORN standards.
  • Previous experience working with an electronic medical record.
  • Ability to effectively use technology and medical/surgical terminology.
  • Knowledge of safe surgery processes.
  • Ability to work effectively surgical team and anticipates next steps.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Active BLS Certification

Compensation:

33.76 - 48.95 USD Hourly
