The Office of Student Life & Campus Community offers leadership, support, and oversight for key areas of student engagement at CU Denver, including Student Organizations, The Sentry student newspaper, Sorority & Fraternity Life, Civic Engagement, Student Programming Board, Leadership Programs, the Student Government Association, and Community Engagement initiatives.
The Coordinator for Student Life is a vital member of the Student Life & Campus Community team, leading the planning, coordination, and execution of campus-wide initiatives and signature programs that boost student engagement and strengthen campus traditions. This position plays a crucial role in advancing the mission of Student Life by supporting collaborative programming, organizing student-centered events, and helping foster a lively campus community.
The Coordinator actively participates in departmental planning and operations, such as staff training and professional growth, program evaluation, and budgeting assistance. Collaborating with campus departments, student leaders, and community partners, the Coordinator aims to create meaningful engagement opportunities that promote student involvement, leadership growth, school spirit, and a strong sense of belonging throughout the CU Denver community.

Coordinator of Student Life:
What you will do:
Sorority and Fraternity Life - 40%
Provide coordination, leadership, and administrative support for the Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) community while assisting with the development of a vibrant and responsible fraternity and sorority experience.
* Responsibilities include:
o Work closely with the Assistant Director of Student Involvement to develop and maintain the CU Denver All Greek Council.
o Support the creation, implementation, and ongoing management of the All Greek Council structure.
o Assist with fraternity and sorority expansion efforts and chapter development.
o Coordinate and implement Greek Week and other fraternity and sorority engagement initiatives.
o Collaborate with the MSU Denver Fraternity and Sorority Life program to explore cross-campus programming opportunities within the Auraria Campus.
o Encourage our SFL organizations to participate in civic and community engagement (volunteer) efforts.
o Design, facilitate, and assess engaging training experiences for sorority and fraternity organizations through retreats, workshops, virtual sessions, and individualized coaching. Training topics may include membership recruitment, officer leadership development, risk management, conflict resolution, group dynamics, event planning, financial policies and funding resources, and leadership transitions. Integrate clear learning outcomes and assessment strategies to strengthen chapter operations and organizational effectiveness.
o Advise chapter presidents and executive officers on effective chapter management, including risk mitigation, event planning, leadership development, and organizational operations. Provide guidance on problem-solving, decision-making, and connect student leaders with appropriate campus and community resources to support chapter success.
o Support student leaders' knowledge in the areas of fundraising, club purchases, and various university policies related to student travel. Work collaboratively with the Student Life Business Services Coordinator and, as needed, with the SFL treasurers.
o In conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student Involvement, fulfill a role with university policies:
* Support the success of SFL organizations through the enforcement and development of Student Life & Campus Community Student Organization policies and guidelines, including registration, constitutions and by-laws, and disciplinary procedures.
* Support, implement or enforce various CU Denver and University of Colorado system policies that affect the work of our SFL organizations and provide information for the annual Clery Report.
o Support processes related to our SFL organization accountability within the Student Code of Conduct.
o Develop relationships with, and support, campus partners invested in and impacted by the work of SFL organizations.

Spirit & Traditions (Campus-wide Programming) - 30%:
Support the development and execution of campus traditions that build community and strengthen student engagement at CU Denver.
* Responsibilities include:
o Coordinate Student Life participation in CU Welcome, including planning and supporting Convocation and the Student Life Late Night Welcome Event, while collaborating with campus partners, including schools, colleges, and departments, to support welcome programming such as the Welcome Bash at the Wellness Center.
o Serve as a member of the CU Denver Homecoming Committee, assisting with the planning, coordination, and expansion of Homecoming traditions and campus-wide engagement opportunities.
o Collaborate with Wellness & Recreation to support Spirit Thursdays and other campus pride initiatives that encourage student engagement and school spirit.
o Provide coordination and logistical support for Student Life signature programs, including Grad Bash, the Milo Awards, National Voter Registration/Tabling Day, and other campus engagement events.
* Support and assist with other functional area signature programs, for examples Lynx Live, Lynx Day of Service, Involvement Fair, SGA Inauguration, and/or TEDxCUDenver
o Assist with the development and implementation of new traditions and campus engagement opportunities that strengthen CU Denver pride, enhance the student experience, and foster a stronger sense of belonging within the campus community.

Marketing, Communications, & Graphic Design - 20%:
Support the promotion and visibility of Student Life programs through strategic marketing and digital engagement.
* Responsibilities include:
o Oversee and provide leadership for the Student Life social media team, ensuring consistent messaging, timely content, and strategic promotion of student engagement opportunities.
o Maintain and regularly update the Student Life website to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and reflective of current programs, events, and resources.
o Collaborate with the Student Life marketing team to develop and implement promotional strategies that effectively communicate programs, initiatives, and campus engagement opportunities to students.
o Assist in the design and development of flyers, marketing materials, and promotional campaigns that support Student Life programs and increase student awareness and participation.
o Manage and develop the Campus Happenings newsletter, curating and distributing information about upcoming student events, programs, and engagement opportunities across campus.

Administration/Additional Responsibilities - 10%
* Support the day-to-day operations of the Office of Student Life & Campus Community, assisting with administrative functions, program coordination, and office initiatives that enhance student engagement and campus community.
* Participate in departmental and campus committees as assigned, contributing to collaborative efforts that support student success, campus engagement, and institutional priorities.
* Assist with the planning and implementation of additional departmental programs and events throughout the academic year, supporting the mission and initiatives of Student Life.
* Communicate and collaborate effectively with CU Denver students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to strengthen relationships and enhance the delivery of Student Life programs and services.
* Serve in additional roles and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Life, supporting evolving departmental needs and strategic priorities.
* Maintain active involvement and professional engagement with relevant professional associations, including the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA), to stay informed of best practices and trends in student engagement and fraternity and sorority life.

Supervision Exercised:
All Student Life student employees will report directly to the Assistant Director for Student Involvement; however, this position will serve as a de facto supervisor by providing day-to-day guidance, project direction, and oversight related to marketing initiatives, communications, and departmental projects.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
* A bachelor's degree in education, communication, social science, women and gender studies, psychology, business, public administration, business administration, higher education, counseling, liberal arts, human services, student affairs, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
* 1 (one) year of professional Experience in student affairs or related field
OR
* Two (2) years of graduate assistantship experience may substitute for the required professional experience.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
* Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field, along with relevant experience.
* Experience working with sorority and / or fraternity organizations
* Experience in campus programming
* Experience in graphic design, social media, and marketing
* Working with college students, volunteers and event planning

Conditions of Employment
* Occasional work during the evening and/or weekends may be required.
* This position follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration

Mental, Physical, and/or Environmental Requirements
* The ability to sit for extended periods, stand and walk occasionally, reach with hands and arms, use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse, and have good near vision for computer work; often requiring minimal lifting, but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.
* Moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $52,479 - $53,994
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
