AI Implementation Planning Intern

Bio-Rad Laboratories
parental leave, paid time off, 401(k), profit sharing
United States, California, Hercules
Apr 04, 2026

The AI Implementation Planning Intern will support the Human Resources team by researching practical AI opportunities, documenting current-state HR processes, and developing a structured AI implementation plan. This role focuses on analysis, stakeholder input, and recommendations (not independent system changes) and is ideal for a student interested in HR transformation, analytics, and responsible AI.

How You'll Make An Impact:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with HR leaders and subject-matter experts to understand current workflows, pain points, and success measures (e.g., Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, HR Technology/HRIS, Learning, Analytics, Compliance).
  • Research and benchmark AI use cases relevant to HR (e.g., knowledge assistants for policies, workflow nudges, recruiting/onboarding automation, survey insights, HR analytics) and summarize findings in clear, non-technical language.
  • Inventory existing tools and systems and document potential integration considerations at a high level (e.g., where data lives, key stakeholders, dependencies).
  • Evaluate opportunities using a simple framework (impact/value, effort, risk, data readiness, change management considerations).
  • Draft an AI implementation plan/roadmap that includes prioritized use cases, recommended pilots, timeline, roles/responsibilities, governance, and a measurement approach.
  • Identify responsible AI considerations (privacy, security, bias/fairness, transparency, human oversight) and propose mitigations and decision points.
  • Create presentation materials and facilitate readouts to HR stakeholders; incorporate feedback into final recommendations.

Expected Deliverables:

  • AI opportunity scan for HR (use-case list with brief descriptions and examples).
  • Current-state summary (key HR processes reviewed, pain points, and constraints).
  • Prioritization matrix/scoring and recommended shortlist of pilot candidates.
  • AI implementation plan (phases, timeline, stakeholders, dependencies, governance, risks, and success metrics).
  • Final presentation for HR leadership summarizing recommendations and next steps.

What You Bring:

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program (or Master's program) in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, Data/Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong research, writing, and presentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts into clear summaries for non-technical audiences.
  • Comfort working with ambiguity, asking good questions, and organizing information into structured outputs (e.g., plans, tables, slides).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Professional discretion and ability to handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • 3.0 Minimum GPA.
  • Rising Juniors, Seniors, and Masters Students.
  • Be willing to make a full-time commitment of 40 hours a week for 9 weeks from June 15 to August 14, 2026.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in AI/ML fundamentals, generative AI, process improvement, or product/project management.
  • Familiarity with HR systems (e.g., ATS, HRIS) and common HR processes (recruiting, onboarding, performance, learning, employee relations).
  • Experience conducting interviews, surveys, or qualitative analysis; ability to synthesize themes from stakeholder input.
  • Basic analytical skills (e.g., building simple Excel models, creating charts, defining KPIs).
  • Interest in responsible AI, data privacy, and technology governance.

Learning Opportunities:

  • Exposure to HR strategy, HR technology, and cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Hands-on experience building an implementation roadmap and defining pilot success metrics.
  • Understanding of how organizations evaluate AI use cases, manage risk, and drive adoption.
