Vice President of Training

Salary: $110,000-$120,000

Site Location: Upper Marlboro, MD

Job Description

The Vice President of Training provides executive leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight for all training programs across Diversified Protection Corporation (DPC). This role is responsible for the performance, compliance, scalability, and profitability of training operations, with primary emphasis on transforming the Tharos Training Center into a high-utilization, revenue-generating center of excellence. The VP of Training maintains executive accountability for facility safety, regulatory compliance, and operational integrity of the Tharos Training Center.

Essential Functions

  • Lead enterprise-wide training strategy aligned with operational and business development objectives.
  • Maintain full P&L responsibility for Tharos Training Center.
  • Drive revenue through training programs, certifications, and facility utilization.
  • Oversee instructor workforce management and national training deployment.
  • Ensure compliance with all training, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Standardize curriculum and ensure consistency across all contracts.
  • Support business development and contract transitions with training strategy and execution.
  • Oversee the development, standardization, and delivery of all training programs.
  • Ensure all training meets and exceeds contractual requirements along with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Utilize systems and technology to support contracts and clients, including software for scheduling, receiving payment, and invoicing.
  • Implement training analytics and dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support client audits, inspections, and training-related deliverables.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, range safety requirements, federal and state training mandates, and contract-specific training requirements.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in training, security operations, or law enforcement.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in a senior leadership role overseeing training programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing training P&L or revenue-generating operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of firearms training and range operations; federal security training requirements; and OSHA and safety compliance standards.
  • Maintain a clean, neatly groomed, and professional appearance.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and work ethic.
  • Possess above-average communication skills for effective interactions with the public, employees, and personnel of public safety agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Business, or related field (master's preferred).

Preferred

  • Experience supporting federal contracts (e.g., DHS, FPS, DoD).
  • Familiarity with FPS PSO training standards and federal qualification requirements.
  • Instructor certifications (e.g., NRA, state-certified instructor, law enforcement instructor credentials).
  • Experience scaling a training organization or facility.

Fire & Life Safety Compliance

1. Ensure compliance with fire codes, life safety regulations, and emergency preparedness standards.

2. Oversee fire protection systems including alarms, suppression systems, and emergency lighting.

3. Conduct drills, inspections, and coordinate with fire authorities.

Building Occupancy & Compliance

1. Ensure adherence to building occupancy limits across all training environments.

2. Monitor scheduling and enforce safe occupancy thresholds.

3. Maintain documentation of compliance and safety standards.

Facility Maintenance & Operations

1. Oversee maintenance of ranges, HVAC systems, classrooms, and training equipment.

2. Implement preventative maintenance programs.

3. Coordinate repairs and vendor support to maintain operational readiness.
