THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher - Corrections Education, Masonry, you will instruct and train inmate students in the the vocation of masonry and other closely related job skills. You will provide classroom and shop instruction in masonry as well as select teaching techniques and curriculum materials that best meet the needs of the learners. You will also maintain inmate education records and payroll. This role requires effective communication and the ability to establish a classroom rapport that enables students to learn relevant masonry theory and job skills. In addition, you will inventory all materials and tools used during classroom training, assign and review homework, and issue final evaluations for each enrolled student.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical; or
  • If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.
  • Please Note: The specified parenthetical for this posting is Masonry. The specific apprenticeship period for this parenthetical is 2 years.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical; or
  • You must be in possession of or eligible for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or
  • You must be eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
