Heavy Equipment Operator - Transfer Station Sanitary Disposal, A Waste Connections Company Location: Hermiston, Oregon Schedule: Wednesday- Friday Hours are 7:00am-4:30Pm. Saturday 8:00am-4:30pm, and Sunday 8:30am-1:30pm. (Overtime frequently available) Starting Pay: $30.50 per hour Position Overview Sanitary Disposal, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a fulltime, yearround Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the Hermiston Transfer Station. We are looking for a safetydriven operator with strong experience in frontend loaders, excavators, and yard truck/trailer operations. This role plays a key part in maintaining efficient transfer station operations while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities
  • Operate Front End Loaders, Excavators, and Yard Trucks/Trailers efficiently and safely.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on equipment, including checking oil, water, and tire pressure.
  • Maintain proper care, cleanliness, and functionality of all assigned equipment and tools.
  • Support continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Assist with compactor operations (preferred experience but not required).
  • Complete additional duties assigned to support daily transfer station operations.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
  • Requires strenuous physical activity, including lifting, pushing, and pulling items over 50 lbs.
  • Work environment includes exposure to physical hazards; adherence to safety procedures is mandatory.
  • Must be able to operate heavy equipment in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Requires basic computer skills for daily tasks and reporting.
  • Must understand and follow safety procedures, equipment maintenance practices, and vehicle inspection standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of directly related heavy equipment experience, including loaders, excavators, and yard truck/trailer operation.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
