Senior Center Operator 1 (Local Government) - (Part-Time) Lehigh County Area Agency on Aging

As a part-time Senior Center Operator 1 with the Lehigh County Area Agency on Aging, you will participate in the management of our Neighborhood Senior Centers. Each center offers social and recreational activities, educational opportunities, exercise classes, nutrition counseling, volunteer opportunities and a daily nutritious lunch to help our county's aging residents be healthier, more active, and as committed as ever to serving their community. In this part-time Senior Center Operator 1 position, you will perform public contact work within the framework of our Neighborhood Senior Center Program. Each position is primarily assigned to one center location but is expected to change sites when requested on an as needed basis. You will participate in an on-the-job training program designed to develop the skills and abilities necessary for handling food and doing public contact work. Work involves direct management of the senior center, monitoring of food service, and establishing contacts within the community to enhance your personal knowledge of the physical, cultural, and social environment of each participant. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three months of experience in providing direct services in a human services, education or a community based setting to the aging population or to individuals from various cultures and socio-economic backgrounds or to individuals who have physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

• Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Lehigh County. If no eligible candidates who live within Lehigh County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
