We are looking for an experienced Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher to join our staff of vocational teachers. State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Huntingdon is one of many facilities in DOC that offer a variety of vocational programs to teach inmates valuable skills to use upon their re-entry into their communities. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will provide vocational instruction in the construction trades to inmate students. Your work will involve adapting curriculum materials to meet the needs of students based on screening and placement assessment results. This will include developing teaching techniques and approaches in presenting materials, as well as following individualized lesson plans and planned courses. You will provide classroom and shop instruction in a variety of building and construction trades such as building construction, electrical, plumbing, and heating in residential and commercials settings. Some of your duties will also include assigning and evaluating homework, developing and administering tests, and providing final evaluations for enrolled students. Additionally, you will monitor inmate behavior and establish classroom rules and procedures to maintain an effective learning environment.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Special Requirements:
- You must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical; or
- You must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical; or
- You must be eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
