The Creative Director is responsible for developing and executing a best-in-class creative vision that drives recruiting success, builds cultural relevance, elevates the student-athlete experience, and amplifies the Duke Women's Basketball brand nationally. The Creative Director will oversee the visual and digital storytelling strategy for the program, translating elite performance, leadership, and culture into compelling content that resonates across recruiting, fan engagement, and brand partnerships.

  • Work requires the ability to plan and administer programs and direct program activities within a specific functional area, generally acquired through four years of related experience.
  • OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.
  • Commitment to knowing and complying with NCAA, ACC, and institutional rules.

Brand & Creative Leadership



  • Develop and lead a bold, cohesive creative vision for Duke Women's Basketball that aligns with the program's championship aspirations, core values, and competitive identity.


  • Lead the creative direction across all digital, social, recruiting, and brand platforms to ensure consistent, premium execution and storytelling
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of creative professionals, including one full-time employee, external collaborators, and student creatives.
  • Provide ongoing feedback mentorship and performance management to elevate individual contributors and overall team output.
  • Establish clear roles, expectations, and workflows to ensure efficient, high-quality content production across all platforms.
  • Oversee resource allocation, scheduling, and project prioritization to meet the demands of a high-performance program.


Content Strategy and Production



  • Lead end-to-end content strategy and production, including photography, videography, design, graphics, social content, and digital storytelling.
  • Deliver high-quality, original content that highlights the program's culture, student-athlete experience, and on-court excellence.
  • Create differentiated, culturally relevant content that drives engagement, elevates the program nationally, and supports recruiting goals.
  • Develop and oversee original content series, including podcast concepts, episodic storytelling, and behind-the-scenes programming that deepen fan connection and expand the program's reach.


Social & Digital Ecosystem



  • Oversee and optimize the program's presence across major platforms, including Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and emerging platforms.
  • Drive social and digital strategy with a focus on audience growth, fan engagement, brand affinity, and recruiting impact.
  • Monitor trends, analytics, and emerging technologies to keep the program at the forefront of digital innovation.


Recruiting & Program Support



  • Partner closely with the coaching staff to support recruiting through creative assets, storytelling, and high-impact presentations.
  • Develop recruiting materials and digital experiences that resonate with elite prospective student-athletes and their families.


Collaboration & Leadership



  • Work cross-functionally with marketing, communications, video, operations, and external partners to ensure alignment and excellence on messaging, campaigns and digital activation.
  • Provide creative leadership, feedback, and direction to internal staff, student creatives, and external collaborators.
  • Set and uphold elite creative standards across all program touchpoints.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $61,535.00 to USD $95,880.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
