Position Summary

The Lead, Manufacturing Operations is responsible for achieving production requirements with a strong focus on safety, predictability, and product quality within a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role coordinates and supports manufacturing activities across products, components, and subassemblies, ensuring production goals are met through strong operational oversight, effective collaboration, and continuous improvement practices.

The position plays a key role in planning, organizing, and optimizing production workflows. It partners closely with cross-functional teams-including Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Maintenance-to ensure consistent output of high-quality products, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency. Success is measured by production performance, process stability, adherence to safety and quality standards, and contributions to continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Champion safety processes and ensure that improvements for a safer workplace are identified, prioritized, and supported.

Provide operational leadership and technical guidance to production teams without direct supervisory responsibility.

Monitor and maintain daily performance to the production schedule, identifying risks and proposing recovery plans when needed.

Coordinate production activities to maximize efficiency (e.g., safety, quality, on-time shipping, cycle time, and gross margin) and achieve departmental goals.

Track and report on daily production status, operational metrics, and key performance indicators.

Support training efforts by maintaining training metrics and promoting adequate cross-training to enhance operational flexibility.

Adjust or recommend modifications to production plans and schedules based on changing operational needs.

Recommend and support implementation of improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.

Analyze and help resolve production issues by providing troubleshooting assistance and documenting findings.

Maintain accurate time, production, and performance records as required.

Assist in developing capital equipment justifications related to process technology, quality improvements, cost efficiency, and cycle-time reduction.

Ensure compliance with safety, product, quality, and operational procedures.

Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Planning, and Maintenance to ensure targets and objectives are consistently met.

Partner with Planning to help balance factory demand with available labor capacity.

Adhere to company policies, procedures, and budget requirements.

Follow established work standards and contribute to the development and refinement of process and quality systems.

Participate in Lean Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing methods, workflow, and overall production performance.

Qualifications - Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Management, or equivalent manufacturing experience.

5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in production operations, process improvement, or planning.

Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification preferred.

Strong experience with SAP or an equivalent ERP system (Oracle, PeopleSoft).

Advanced Excel skills (modeling, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).

Ability to excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Strong results orientation with a proactive, self-directed work style.

  • Compensation: $108,000- $124,000 per year with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
