Reinsurance Broking Director - Property and Casualty

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Philadelphia office

What the day will look like

This role focuses on the day-to-day execution of reinsurance placements, including data gathering, analysis, and preparation of market submissions and client materials. The Director role helps coordinate placement activities, supports renewal and new business efforts, and contributes to a high-quality work-product delivery for a portfolio of clients. The position offers broad exposure to clients, markets, and product lines with clear opportunities for professional growth and increasing responsibility over time.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client & Account Team Support

  • Support senior brokers and account leaders in servicing a portfolio of reinsurance clients.
  • Assist with the preparation of client presentations.
  • Actively participate in client and market calls/meetings, including renewal strategy sessions, firm order/pricing meetings, and client visits throughout the year.
  • Present selected materials and analyses to clients under the guidance of senior team members, building comfort and confidence in a client-facing role.

Placement Execution & Market Interaction

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities related to treaty placements (new business and renewals).
  • Create underwriting submissions, marketing lists, and quote presentations.
  • Track market responses and help manage timelines to ensure on-time completion.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with underwriters in the reinsurance market and use those relationships during placement negotiations.

Data, Analysis & Documentation

  • Gather, validate, and organize exposure, loss, and underwriting data from clients.
  • Assist with program analysis, benchmarking, and structuring scenarios using internal tools and models.
  • Work with actuarial colleagues and catastrophe modelers to ensure work product delivered to client is accurate and provides valuable insight.
  • Review contract wording and ensure I&Ls are signed and returned in a prompt fashion.

Professional Development & Market Knowledge

  • Stay current on reinsurance market trends, capacity, pricing, and product developments.
  • Pursue relevant professional development and designations with guidance from leadership (e.g., ARe, CPCU)
  • Proactively build knowledge of client industries, risk profiles, and key performance indicators.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 3+ years of broking and/or underwriting commercial lines experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, a related field, or equivalent years of industry experience.
  • CPCU or ARE designation or progression towards is preferred but not required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with capability to interact with clients to cultivate and maintain strong relationships
  • Excellent communicator (both verbally and in writing) with internal and external clients
  • Entrepreneurial attitude with keen negotiation, business acumen and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills, able to multitask and manage projects
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter; committed to delivering the highest in client service, quality and results
  • Previous formal or informal experience in managing teams or direct reports
  • The ability to embrace change in support of the business unit's and company's goals
  • Ability to travel

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $115,000 to $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
