This position is located on Roi-Namur, on Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. It is an unaccompanied position (no family accommodations or pets). Benefits of this unique location include free housing, three meals a day and potential for overseas U.S. tax incentives.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide transmitter operations and maintenance support for a Ka-Band and C-Band radar system.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair various pieces of commercial and custom hardware.
  • Provide transmitter operations support including but not limited to daily warm-ups, satellite tracks, SOI tasking and range test operations.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance procedures and runs system diagnostic software.
  • Provide support to receiver, transmitter and hardware engineers during design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving receivers, transmitters, servos, and antenna subsystems.
  • Assemble, wire and bench test components and subassemblies.
  • Installs new equipment and provides technical input about system configuration and performance.
  • Maintain an equipment calibration data base, test fixtures and assemblies utilizing commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components.
  • Climb and works at moderate heights.
  • Provide weekend coverage for transmitter operations regularly as well as occasional odd shifting (early morning or late night) to support the mission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills Needed:

  • Ability to effectively use standard electronic test equipment, including but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers and frequency analyzers.
  • Ability to read electronic schematics.
  • Ability to successfully troubleshoot electronics and perform general repairs.
  • Strong background in High Power electronics, High Voltage systems, and RF transmission.
  • Excellent electrical fabrication skills and soldering skills.
  • Sufficient critical thinking and writing skills required to generate Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), maintenance & operation procedures, and weekly reports.
  • General computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to work early, extended hours, and/or weekends as required.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics Technology or related field, or equivalent technical school or military training, or experience in lieu of education.
  • Eight (8) or more years of electronics technician experience including high voltage systems, high power electronics and RF transmission equipment experience.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Ability to climb/work up to 50 feet.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronics Technology or related field, or 4 years of civilian military electronics training.
  • 2 years RF equipment experience including experience with analog/RF hardware components such as amplifiers, couplers, and hybrids.
  • Ability to perform maintenance on vacuum tubes and high-power peak pulsed microwave transmitters.
  • Ability to safely set up and conduct measurements of DC or DC pulsed high-voltage circuits.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) hardware.
  • Mechanical fabrication skills.
