DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this seasonal role, your responsibilities will involve operating heavy construction equipment to complete projects such as buildings, dams, access areas, hatcheries, marinas, roads, and bridges. You will operate excavators, loaders, dozers, graders, backhoes, hydraulic dredges, vibratory rollers, dump trucks, articulating rock trucks (32,001+ lbs.), and tractor trailers used to transport machinery, ensuring loads are secure, within legal limits, and compliant with traffic laws. This includes equipment servicing and inspections, as well as routine maintenance and repairs. You will also perform labor duties such as pipe and culvert installation, guide rail and boat launch installation, erosion control, brush clearing, concrete work, seeding and mulching, operating power tools, and assisting survey crews. Adhering to all safety regulations is essential for completing all equipment operation and labor work, along with other related duties as assigned. Interested in learning more? - Seasonal, full-time employment. This position is a seven-month seasonal assignment with opportunity for advancement to full-time position.
- This position does not receive medical benefits. Paid time off accrues after working 750 regular (non-overtime) hours in each calendar year.
- This position requires frequent overnight travel. Travel costs including meals and lodging expenses are paid by the Fish & Boat Commission.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. An Alternate Work Schedule with a four day work week could be considered.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
- A valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) that is not under suspension.
Legal Requirement:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
