Store Manager
Position Summary
The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily retail operations, ensuring an inclusive, welcoming, and well-organized shopping environment for individuals of all abilities. This position requires strong retail management experience, sound business judgment, and the ability to lead staff while providing exceptional customer service.
The Store Manager will manage inventory, merchandising, staff scheduling, financial performance, and customer engagement. The ideal candidate understands both retail operations and the importance of creating a supportive environment for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), autism, and sensory processing needs.
Key Responsibilities
Retail Operations
- Manage day-to-day store operations including opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming retail environment.
- Ensure store presentation, merchandising, and displays are consistent with brand standards.
- Oversee point-of-sale operations, cash handling, and daily sales reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and retail procedures.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Manage product ordering, receiving, and inventory control.
- Monitor product sales trends and adjust merchandising strategies accordingly.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Ensure sensory products are displayed in ways that are accessible and easy to understand for customers.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate retail staff and volunteers.
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for staff.
Customer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service to individuals of all abilities and their families.
- Provide product knowledge and guidance related to sensory supports and tools.
- Ensure the store environment remains sensory-friendly and accessible.
- Address customer concerns and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
Financial & Business Management
- Monitor store sales performance and operational expenses.
- Implement strategies to meet sales goals and improve store performance.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with financial reporting.
- Support marketing initiatives and community outreach efforts.
Community Engagement
- Build relationships with local schools, therapists, disability organizations, and community partners.
- Support educational outreach regarding sensory tools and resources.
- Represent the organization in community events when appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Strong retail management or retail supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated business and operational management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead teams and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work with individuals of all abilities in a respectful and inclusive manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Education, Social Services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), autism, or sensory processing differences.
- Experience with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- Knowledge of sensory tools, therapeutic products, or assistive supports.
Physical Requirements

Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000 annually depending on experience
