Position Summary: The Bridge Inspection Team Leader will be responsible for conducting NBIS inspections of in-service transportation structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and traffic device support structures. The Bridge Inspection Team Leader will receive general supervision from the Project Manager and will be required to perform the duties of an inspection team leader. Duties of the position include planning and scheduling inspections, performing inspections, and preparing inspection reports. In addition to bridge inspection, this position will also include responsibility for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Working Conditions Work is performed in the office (50% of the time) and in the field (50% of the time). Field work will be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions and on uneven terrain or surfaces. Candidate must have the ability to perform inspections while bending, kneeling, or standing, and lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Work will require the operation of access equipment and performing inspections at heights requiring fall protection. Office work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
