Willdan Lighting & Electric (WLE), is seeking a Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will work closely with the management teams at Willdan and partner organizations. Your interest and vision of sustainability are tied to the company mission and will include but is not limited to crafting winning proposals and bid responses that effectively convey Willdan's strengths and qualifications to potential clients in compelling and differentiated ways. The goal will be to ensure that proposals are innovative, accurate, compliant, and competitive by working collaboratively with the company's sales and business development and leadership teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization to help refine content strategy and messaging in order to best position the company to win.
  • Proposal strategy and writing - With limited supervision or guidance, help identify winning strategies by understanding Willdan's services and potential client needs, challenging the status quo, and creating proposals that are customized and tailored to the decision maker.
  • Participate and play an active role in sharing best practices, information, problem solving etc., with other team members by scheduling and participating in strategy meetings.
  • Comply and use CRM database to track all proposal information required to develop weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports. Ensure data is accurate and updated in real-time.
  • Develop innovative and creative proposal presentations in multiple formats to increase likelihood of winning proposals and/or grants.
  • Serve as a training resource and brand ambassador sharing approaches and learnings from pursuits.
  • Coordinate, write, edit and produce responses to viable solicitations; this includes research, technical content, graphics, page layout and design.
  • Work with department heads to assemble materials and manage the entire proposal process from start to finish.
  • Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.
  • Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
  • Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
  • Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
  • Maintain positive relationships and facilitate a high level of collaboration between stakeholders.
  • Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
  • Assist with other business development/marketing functions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area (Master's Degree preferred).
  • A minimum of two years' experience providing proposal and presentation coordination and marketing support in the energy industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process.
  • Ability to study and understand programs and funding requirements of the organization.
  • Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources.
  • Strong multitasking, organizational and time management skills.
  • Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, tactful, mature and flexible.
  • Strong project management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute within a fast-paced, challenging and deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with utmost integrity.
  • Results and people oriented but have sound judgment and ability to balance other business considerations.
