Cranbrook Schools seeks an energetic, organized, and student-centered educator to serve as the Head JV Girls Volleyball Coach. This is an important role within a highly visible and high-participation program, responsible for developing student-athletes and preparing them for success at the varsity level.

The girls volleyball program is well-positioned for continued growth and competitive advancement, supported by an engaged community and strong institutional alignment. The JV Head Coach plays a critical role in building foundational skills, fostering a positive and accountable team culture, and aligning closely with the varsity program to ensure continuity in teaching and expectations.

The ideal candidate will be:



  • A strong teacher of the game who prioritizes fundamentals, skill development, and game understanding.


  • Passionate about working with high school student-athletes in a developmental setting.


  • Committed to the mission of independent school education, valuing the integration of athletics, academics, and character.


  • A relationship-driven coach who communicates effectively with players, families, and colleagues.


  • Organized, dependable, and aligned with a program-first mindset.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Lead all aspects of the JV Girls Volleyball team, including practices, game preparation, and in-season management.


  • Design and implement structured, purposeful training sessions focused on skill development, fundamentals, and team systems.


  • Teach and reinforce the technical and tactical foundations necessary for advancement to the varsity level.


  • Establish a team culture centered on accountability, effort, sportsmanship, and growth.


  • Align with the Varsity Head Coach to ensure consistency in systems, terminology, and program philosophy.


  • Provide regular feedback to student-athletes to support their development and confidence.


  • Communicate clearly and consistently with players, families, and the athletic department.


  • Support multi-sport athletes and encourage broad athletic participation in alignment with school values.


  • Assist with program-wide initiatives as needed, including camps, clinics, and offseason development opportunities.


Requirements:



  • Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.


  • Strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, training methods, and skill progression.


  • Ability to teach, motivate, and connect with high school student-athletes.


  • Strong organizational and communication skills.


  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team environment.


  • Alignment with the mission and values of Cranbrook Schools.
