Position Title: Sales Manager

Reports To: Director of Sales

FLSA Status: Exempt

OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF JOB SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Corporate Sales Manager is responsible for generating and maximizing revenue across assigned market segments through proactive solicitation, negotiation, and management of group, corporate, and banquet business. This role develops and executes strategic sales initiatives to achieve occupancy, rate, and profitability goals, while ensuring client satisfaction is met.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Director of Sales and retains relationships with peers and all other departments within the hotel, maintains relationships with current and prospective clients, and maintains relationships with suppliers, vendors, and others servicing the hotel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Work to maximize revenue in assigned market segments.

2. Responsible for guest room, meeting room, and banquet revenue.

3. Develop and maintain a sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, and direct sales efforts.

4. Secure new business and maintain existing corporate accounts to ensure repeat bookings.

5. Oversee rate, date, and space commitments; prepare and issue group contracts.

6. Collaborate with Director of Sales and General Manager on pricing, forecasting, and occupancy strategies.

7. Follow-up to ensure groups, meetings and events go as planned and meet client expectations.

8. Analyze market conditions and recommend strategies to increase revenue potential.

9. Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.

10. Adhere to sales action plan and execute plans as outlined, examining, and adjusting as deemed necessary by current market conditions.

11. Stay up to date on the travel industry, current market trends, and local economic factors.

12. Manage all group, transient, and catering and banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel pertaining to the corporate market segments.

13. Represent the hotel professionally at community, networking, and industry events.

14. Accurately document sales activities, client interactions, and account information.

15. Other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent education and experience, required.

2. Sales experience in hotel or similar level preferred.

3. May work weekends, some nights, and holidays.

4. Positive, outgoing, team focused, guest service centered leadership attitude.

5. Possess a valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and have a motor vehicle record that meets the standards of insurability set by the insurance carrier to operate personal automobile while on company business.

The employee may be required to move throughout multiple areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, offices, meeting spaces, restaurants, kitchens, and back-of-house corridors. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to thirty pounds. The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.

Environmental/atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will primarily work in an office setting but will also regularly move through hotel properties. This includes exposure to guest-facing areas, housekeeping and laundry facilities, food and beverage outlets, kitchens, and back-of-house spaces. The employee may occasionally be exposed to heat, humidity, cleaning agents, food preparation areas, loud noise, or other typical conditions present in hotel and restaurant operations. Travel within the assigned region may also be required.
