Position Summary

Position Summary:

To supervise the maintenance activity through the implementation of a preventive maintenance program and an ongoing maintenance repair program for the facility, production maintenance and process equipment.

Scope/ Supervision and Interaction:

Reports to the Plant Manager. Hourly machine maintenance employees will report to this position. Coordinates work with all service and production departments.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise maintenance staff
  • Maintenance of building, machinery and grounds and procurement of necessary materials
  • Responsible for environmental, health and safety for the facility
  • Install electrical conduit, wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors and other such equipment
  • Test, maintain and evaluate equipment performance using instruments such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers and pressure gauges
  • Test and calibrate pneumatic HVAC controls
  • Perform skilled maintenance activities including construction, welding, brazing, soldering and plumbing
  • Check and repair pumps, fans, valves and motors
  • Adjust, repair and replace electrical and electronic pneumatic relays
  • Prepare accurate records for preventive maintenance
  • Perform related work as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experiencing which has provided both theoretical and practice knowledge in the field.
  • 5 years related maintenance experience
  • 3 to 5 years supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with boilers, air compressors, heating and air conditions, plumbing, welding, carpentry, electrical/electronic equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics and heavy manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved
  • Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment used in the trades involved
  • Ability to detect defects in equipment and to make proper repairs or adjustments
  • Ability to interpret and work from pencil sketches and diagrams
