WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Regional Philanthropy Officer to advance our mission by meeting ambitious fundraising goals and building meaningful partnerships with corporate donors. This role is responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective donors across the region, with a strong emphasis on developing transformational relationships capable of six- and seven-figure philanthropic investments.

This hybrid position is a key member of the Development team supporting efforts throughout the Michigan region and reports to the Director of Development. The role plays a critical leadership function in shaping and executing the donor engagement strategy for our Michigan Region.

The ideal candidate is an experienced fundraiser who goes beyond traditional major gifts work, successfully building and closing transformational philanthropic partnerships. This officer will position donors as strategic partners, aligning their philanthropic goals with the Red Cross mission to drive lasting impact.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive regional strategy to qualify, cultivate, and steward highcapacity donors, ensuring retention, recapturing, and longterm philanthropic partnership leading to sustained growth.
  • Manage assigned portfolio of major and principallevel donors and prospects with intent to form deep, longterm, impactdriven relationships, including responsibility for securing complex, highvalue solicitations and transformational gifts.
  • Lead efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors with a specific focus on building a pipeline of donors capable of six and sevenfigure transformational philanthropy.
  • Serve as a mentor and informal leader to lessexperienced colleagues, providing expertise in donor retention and relationship management.
  • Responsible for achieving a minimum annual fundraising goal, inclusive of renewable gifts and new, incremental revenue. Create individualized donor plans that drive informed, compelling, and complex solicitations. Conduct facetoface donor visits, preparing customized engagement materials. Maintain accurate and timely donor information in regional/district databases and Salesforce following all donor interactions.
  • Participate in disaster relief fundraising projects as appropriate.
  • Recruit, develop and work with field staff and volunteers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of sales and/or fundraising experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Skills & Abilities: Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office preferred and fundraising database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce.com). Ability to work on a team within a collaborative environment and ensure the highest customer service orientation.
  • A current valid driver's license and good driving record is required.
  • Travel: Frequent travel within the Michigan region required.

* Combination of candidate's education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description's minimum education and general experience years combined.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $90,000-100,000. You will be eligible to participate in an incentive plan based on annual individual and organization performance.

Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.

This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Physical Requirements:

Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.
