Department: MED-Inst for Global Health
Salary/Grade: NEX/10

Job Summary:

The Education Program Assistant for the Havey Institute for Global Health will work closely with our medical students and international partners supporting their global health experiences. It will include coordinating schedules/meetings, event logistic support, and supporting students prior to, during, and after their global health experience. The individual is expected to liaise directly with our affiliated international educational partners and be understanding of cross-cultural workplaces and general administrative support.

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine's Robert J. Havey, MD Institute for Global Health unifies two growing and successful entities, the Global Health Initiative Fund and the Center for Global Health, formerly a part of the Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM). The Institute for Global Health continues to focus on the three major areas that the Center for Global Health supported: 1) student, resident, fellow, and faculty education in global health; 2) coordination and support of faculty to carry out global health research; and 3) partnership building and clinical outreach to partner communities.

Specific Responsibilities:

Documents & Databases

  • Enters information into spreadsheets &/or databases.
  • Compiles routine reports, statistics, tables, charts, etc. from readily available information.

Accounting

  • Processes reimbursement for expenses
  • Enters, tracks, & maintains documentation & logs of financial transactions.
  • Completes routine payroll actions.

Coordination

  • Coordinates events which may include scheduling rooms &/or guest speaker & arranging for routine materials, technology & refreshments.

Contacts

  • Provides information via phone, e-mail, mail, etc.

Student Services

  • Guides students through application processes.
  • Monitors student progress

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of administrative support or other relevant experience required.

Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)

  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database software programs is required.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • Experience working in student facing programs

Target hiring range for this position will be between $18.42 to $25.90 per hour. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
