HDR is seeking a Senior Hydrogeologist/ Project Manager with at least 10 or more years experience. This individual will support our on-going work load and develop new opportunities in water supply development, water management, and water supply reliability. Ground water hydrology (e.g, hydrogeology) experience in the fields of water supply, aquifer recharge, water rights, and contamination is desired.

The primary duties of this position will be to provide leadership, coordination, technical support and project management for the planning and design of water resources related projects and programs. Type of projects will include: municipal/industrial water supply, water rights, water management plans, mining, flood control, groundwater contamination, stormwater and hydropower. Duties will include client and project management; support of business development activities; and leading projects that that include field work, summarizing background information, analyses, modeling, writing technical reports, and performing various water resources studies.

Skills in ground water modeling, GIS, ground water quality, water rights, well design and construction, and aquifer testing are necessary. Strong computational skills, field experience, and a Master's Degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have complimentary experience in one or more of the following areas: surface water hydrology/hydraulics, water planning, pumps and distribution system analysis, and water quality. This is a good opportunity for a self-motivated individual to work on a wide range of water resources projects across the Mid-Western and Western U.S.

Business Development

The position may also require client management, coordination with HDR regional and national programs, business development, scoping new work, and preparing proposals. Establish client relations and drive a program of water resources related business in the local/regional market. Familiarity and established relationships with local water resources clients in the state and region is a plus.

In the role of Senior Hydrogeologist, we'll count on you to

  • Provide high-level technical expertise with regard to hydraulic/hydrologic analysis, modeling and investigation
  • Specialize in project areas that have greater scope and complexity
  • Plan and develop projects or design activities that have significant impact on major company programs as needed
  • Plan, organize and supervise work of medium to large staff of professionals and technicians
  • Serve as Project Manager on larger projects as needed, though project management is not sole focus of position
  • Perform other related duties as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Environmental Studies, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources or closely related field
  • Professional Engineering or Professional Geologist registration
  • Ability to travel for work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have local market/industry project experience and client connections
  • 10 or more years of experience as a senior hydrogeologist or equivalent position

  • 10 or more years of analysis, modeling and design and management experience
  • Project management skills a plus
