Symetra offers a thrilling chance to become part of our team as a Benefits Support Specialist!

About the role

The role focuses on supporting the Implementation and Account Managers in the implementation of new Employer Group accounts, and the servicing of existing accounts, including Group Life, Disability, Absence Management, and Voluntary Benefits. It also involves fostering client relationships and supporting the National Service Team to ensure renewals, retention, and happiness.

What you will do

  • Service and Relationship Management: Establish and nurture positive relationships with both internal and external partners. Handle routine service activities such as AOR changes, licensing updates, amendments, and enrollment support. Coordinate with different teams within the organization to resolve challenges and deliver solutions to clients.
  • Document Preparation and Quality Analysis: Support National Service and Implementation Teams by preparing administrative and marketing documents, including signatory documents, forms, enrollment materials and plan summaries. Conduct quality reviews of pre-submission PASR records and implementation-related materials, such as contracts, the first bill, and Go Portal entries.
  • Agent and Census Management: Confirm agent appointments, send appointment requests, and handle Agent of Record changes for initial case setup and assigned book of business. Perform initial enrollment census evaluations for new clients, sharing updates with Implementation Managers as required; request and assess renewal census data for the assigned book of business.
  • Coordinate the renewal process for assigned accounts. Review audit renewal letters and manage their distribution. Work with the assigned Regional Sales Executive (RSE) and/or Voluntary Sales Executive (VSE) to negotiate plan design changes and renewal terms with underwriting. This improves client satisfaction, increases policy persistency, and ensures communication with relevant departments.
  • Amendments and Special Projects: Record and handle contract amendments by working closely with internal groups to guarantee contract language reflects customer intent. Offer internal assistance to team members on travel or special customer-related assignments.
  • Guarantee Correct Tracking and Delegation: Manage established tracking resources to ensure activity records remain accurate and updated. Verify sold case notifications for accuracy, completeness, and suitable routing of new sold groups or new lines of coverage to Implementation Managers. Notify relevant individuals about new sales.
  • Leadership Support: Support Account Management, Implementation, and Leadership in improving department functions and handling special projects when necessary.
