DCE Connectivity - Coherent DSP System Validation Lab
Marvell's Coherent DSP team is seeking a highly motivated Lab Technician to support system validation activities for next generation coherent optical products. In this role, you will help maintain and operate our optical fiber communication lab, support EVK (Evaluation Kit) assembly and bring up, and work closely with engineers across system validation, hardware, and DSP teams. This position requires strong hands on skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn advanced electrical and optical techniques.

What You Can Expect

  • Support daytoday lab operations, including organization, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Perform highprecision soldering and rework on SMT components, connectors, wires, and custom fixtures.
  • Assist in building, assembling, and bringing up coherent DSP EVKs and hardware prototypes.
  • Assist in simple mechanical tasks related to hardware fixtures, mounting, and custom lab setups.
  • Conduct basic PCB debugging using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other lab instrumentation.
  • Manage lab inventory, track equipment, and handle procurement of components, consumables, and tools.
  • Prepare and maintain test setups for electrical and optical system validation.
  • Learn optical fiber handling, splicing, connector cleaning, and loss measurements.
  • Support engineers during system bringup and validation activities by performing measurement, setup, data labeling, and documentation tasks.
  • Maintain accurate lab documentation, logs, procedures, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate crossfunctionally with hardware, DSP, firmware, and system validation teams.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong handson soldering skills, including finepitch SMT rework.
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits and PCB schematics.
  • Experience using standard lab equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, power supply).
  • Ability to manage lab organization, inventory, and procurement processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to highquality work.
  • Willingness to learn new technical skills in both electrical and optical domains.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fastpaced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in an engineering lab environment.
  • Knowledge of PCB bringup, hardware validation workflows, or EVK assembly.
  • Familiarity with optical fiber handling, connector cleaning, or optical measurement tools.
  • Experience with fiber splicing (fusion or mechanical) is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of optical communication systems or photonics concepts.
  • Exposure to highspeed or digital communication systems.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design or mechanical fixture work (e.g., mounting hardware, brackets, test fixtures).
  • Familiarity with operations involving the chiller and compressed dry air systems used in lab equipment and thermal management setups.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Proactive, organized, and selfdriven.
  • Comfortable multitasking and adapting to evolving project needs.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the team.
