Your Role at Cabot: Cabot has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Lab Technical Operator to join the Inkjet Research & Development team and help grow Inkjet's business in the fast-growing, emerging industrial inkjet printer market at the Billerica, MA R&D location.
The Sr Lab Technical Operator will work within the existing team and collaborate with experts on new product development, scale-up, process optimization and performance testing for both existing and new products.
The Sr Lab Technical Operator will work under minimal supervision to perform a variety of standard and non-routine activities related to production and testing of aqueous pigment dispersions and equipment installation and modification at laboratory and potentially pilot scales.
We are seeking a qualified technical operator, who enjoys working in the lab environment, creating new prototypes and modelling the customer's experience through application testing.

Use various equipment and apparatus required for mixing, milling, reaction, purification, and filtration to prepare samples. Ability to recognize and troubleshoot issues with equipment/processes and participate in the resolution of problems. May assemble and install process equipment used for testing purposes. Follow experimental plan as set by project leader. Prepare logistics, materials, and equipment, and ensure that experiments and testing are conducted thoroughly and on a timely basis. Demonstrates a solid grasp of the underlying principles governing equipment and process functionality. Monitors work requests from initiation through to completion. May work with others to develop test methods for new or existing pieces of equipment. Perform routine tests to collect dispersion physicals, such as pH, viscosity, particle size, and surface tension. Perform applications testing to understand customer experience, which may include print testing using computer software, drawdowns, image analysis, and simple color evaluation of inks. Keeps good observational notes, diligently enters data to database. Generates, organizes data, provides summary interpretation to identify issues and trends as necessary. Experience with electronic notebook systems a plus. Calibrates testing equipment and performs routine maintenance, as needed. Provides training and work orientation to less-experienced employees as needed. Acts as a resource to others. Adheres to all intellectual property standards throughout area of responsibility. Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001 technical specification, as applicable to the site/region. Strictly follows and complies with all SH&E procedures, standards and regulations and constantly strives for Excellence in the field of Safety, Health and preservation of the Environment. Maintains work area in compliance with safety rules and regulations. Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements.

product and/or process development at both laboratory and pilot scales equipment installation, modification, and/or automation some related experience on pigment milling/grinding ink preparation and evaluation
Broad knowledge of laboratory testing equipment and protocols Ability to identify out-of-range results and note unusual patterns. Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity in order to operate and perform basic service to laboratory equipment. Knowledge of computers and standard office applications. Quality and precision oriented. Displays great care in observing and following testing protocols. Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly. Ability to provide training to others. Ability to classify and organize data in a logical and orderly way as well as plan work to ensure timely completion of assignments. The pay range for this role is from $61,750-$84,900. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will depend on the candidate's skill, qualifications, experience and location. In addition, all positions are eligible for health benefits on the first day of employment, 401K savings plans, vision, dental and annual bonus based on company performance.
