CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our Aviation Team in Providence, RI; Columbus, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Cleveland, OH; or Knoxville, TN. In this role, you will support aviation projects that balance operational needs with environmental responsibility-helping airport sponsors advance critical initiatives while meeting regulatory requirements and longterm sustainability goals.



What You'll Do:

    Lead the technical execution of major projects-from concept through completion-by planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed project phases supporting aviation and airport infrastructure
  • Plan, lead, and execute environmental compliance audits and compliance plans (including SWPPPs and SPCC plans) supporting existing clients with ongoing environmental compliance programs
  • Interpret and apply federal and state environmental regulations, evaluating regulated airport operations, assessing compliance risk, and recommending practical, defensible improvements
  • Guide and mentor junior to mid-level scientists, fostering growth and technical excellence within aviation environmental programs
  • Oversee the preparation of large, complex environmental data sets, technical reports, and design tasks, serving as a trusted advocate for quality control, consistency, and compliance excellence
  • Lead the development of assessment reports and other reporting elements, as well as external presentations for clients, the public, and regulatory agencies
  • Identify new project opportunities and assist with proposal development, including technical scope and budget estimates


What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word & Excel required
  • Previous airport experience preferred
  • Knowledge of primary federal and state environmental regulatory programs required (CWA, CAA, RCRA, EPCRA, etc.)
  • Compliance auditing experience preferred
  • Proficient theoretical scientific knowledge and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Ability to work in the field under various weather conditions and physically navigate diverse environments

Salary Range:

$92,000 - $110,000

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
