Position Overview The Structured Cabling Foreman is responsible for leading the installation, termination, and testing of structured cabling systems in large-scale commercial and healthcare environments. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with field leadership, overseeing daily operations, coordinating team assignments, and ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and industry standards. The Foreman serves as the primary on-site contact for clients and contractors, manages materials and labor planning, and ensures projects are completed efficiently and in compliance with project specifications. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with potential for long-term growth and continued technical training. Job Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of 2 to 4 technicians, assigning daily tasks and ensuring productivity and quality standards are met
- Install, route, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber infrastructure
- Coordinate daily project goals, track progress, and adjust plans to meet deadlines
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Install cable pathways including J-hooks, D-rings, cable trays, and ladder racks
- Perform cable dressing, labeling, and management in accordance with industry standards
- Terminate cables using patch panels, jacks, keystones, and modular plugs (RJ-45)
- Install and support network equipment such as wireless access points, fiber ONTs, and switches
- Construct and organize IT closets, including racks, grounding systems, and patch panels
- Perform fiber splicing, testing, and troubleshooting using appropriate testing equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and project documentation
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce compliance with all safety protocols
- Manage materials, order supplies, and maintain inventory for assigned projects
- Review project changes and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders
- Provide training, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in structured cabling, low voltage systems, or data cable installation
- At least 5 years of experience leading teams in a foreman or supervisory capacity
- Experience working in healthcare environments, with knowledge of associated standards and protocols
- Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices (including BICSI guidelines)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents
- Proficient in low voltage cabling installation, termination, and testing
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- OSHA 10 certification preferred
- Lift certifications (scissor or boom) preferred
- Additional safety certifications (fall protection, confined space) preferred
Work Experience
- Proven experience leading structured cabling or low voltage installation teams on commercial or healthcare projects
- Demonstrated experience coordinating field operations, managing crews, and interfacing with clients
