The Palliative Care Practice of MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) is seeking a palliative care physician to join our growing team in a blended role that includes inpatient and outpatient palliative care, along with hospice medical leadership as anAssociate Medical Director. This position is designed for a clinician who values continuity and wants to provide patient- and family-centered careacross settings, including hospital-based consults, outpatient palliative care, and hospice (home and inpatient hospice as appropriate). The ideal practice mix includes outpatient and inpatient palliative care at Pen Bay and Waldo County Hospitals, as well as hospice care.

This position offers:

  • Ability to practice across settings (inpatient, outpatient, and hospice) to support seamless transitions, continuity, and high-quality serious illness and end-of-life care.
  • Opportunity to help expand access to specialty palliative care across MaineHealth Medical Group and strengthen alignment between hospital-based palliative care and hospice services.
  • Work within interdisciplinary teams in the inpatient, outpatient, and hospice settings, partnering closely with nursing, social work, chaplaincy, pharmacy, and community-based resources.
  • Associate Medical Director responsibilities include participating in hospice interdisciplinary group (IDG) collaboration, supporting clinical quality and compliance, and providing physician leadership for complex symptom management and goals-of-care conversations.
  • Team-based care model with collaborative approach to care.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • BC/BE in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
