Job Description

Summary: The Quality Engineer ("QE") is responsible for implementing and maintaining the quality requirements of AS9100 (Quality Management System) on projects and products within SSP. QE should be able to set quality assurance inspection and testing methods for analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Assist in developing quality control policies and evaluate production limitations. Work on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed by QE level 4 or supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under close supervision, the QE must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Review SSP quality documents to assure compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Limited interface with customers regularly to build and maintain a positive and stable working relationship and manage customer-related MRB activity.
  • Generate inspection and test plans and participate in the training of inspection personnel, when required.
  • Review shop planning for adequate inspection points incorporation into the manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor SSP's Quality Metrics, including scrap and rework costs, identify responsibilities, repetitiveness, etc., and initiate improvement projects to maintain or exceed company goals.
  • Follow all Senior (SSP and Corporate level) policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree required, with a strong preference for a degree in an engineering discipline or other technical field.
  • Prior experience (0-2 years) in the aerospace industry preferred.
