As an Infection Control Associate, you will:



  • Support the Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control Department staff in developing and implementing the infection control program for the hospital. Duties will be assigned as necessary to help meet the department's goals.
  • Ensure all patients are on appropriate isolation precautions and assist staff with questions related to isolation, patient placement, and availability of supplies.
  • Perform audits for compliance with hand hygiene, standard precautions, isolation practices, environmental rounds, and ICRA standards, and compile data and prepare reports related to these audits.
  • Offer education and in-service to non-clinical staff such as EVC, Dietary, Facilities, etc., regarding proper infection control practices.
  • Give direct feedback to healthcare workers when breaches in these practices are observed and have responsibility for entering this data into an electronic database.
  • Take direction from Hospital Epidemiologists and Infection Control Epidemiologists and is accountable to the Department of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control leadership for meeting these responsibilities.

What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree is required. Experience above and beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a 2:1 basis (i.e., 8 years of work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree).
  • 5+ years' experience in infection control or other relevant areas is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic infection control principles, including standard precautions, isolation, and ICRA.
  • Ability to teach informally and formally in both small and large groups; ability to interact effectively with personnel in a wide range of hospital and university positions, knowledgeable with The Joint Commission infection control standards, and the ability to conduct Joint Commission and environmental rounds.
