BBSI is partnering with a well-established wholesale food and grocery distribution company seeking a Territory Sales Representative to manage and grow sales within an established territory covering cities along the Oxnard to San Luis Obispo corridor. This is a field-based outside sales role focused on building relationships with grocery retailers, expanding product placement, and increasing territory revenue.

The company is also willing to train individuals with relevant grocery or retail experience who are interested in transitioning into a territory sales role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain relationships with existing grocery and retail customer accounts within the territory
  • Identify and develop new customer accounts to expand territory sales
  • Conduct regular in-person store visits to maintain strong customer relationships
  • Present and promote product offerings from the company's catalog
  • Identify opportunities to increase product placement, shelf space, and overall sales volume
  • Monitor customer needs and provide solutions that support retail sales growth
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers to support long-term partnerships
  • Track and report sales activity within the assigned territory
  • Work independently while managing day-to-day territory operations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in sales, grocery retail, food distribution, or related industry
  • Experience working with grocery stores, retail accounts, or consumer packaged goods preferred
  • Fluent Spanish required
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage an independent sales territory
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the assigned territory

Compensation

  • Commission-based compensation averaging approximately 3-4% of total territory sales revenue (including incentives)
  • Existing territory averages approximately $142,000 in monthly sales
  • Guaranteed $4,000-$4,500 per month during the first 6 months if commissions fall below that level
