Head of Business Development - RIA & IBD Channels, HCB

Location(s): All Locations/Remote

Role Type: Full time

Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year + Sales Incentive Compensation

Summary:

Reporting directly to the VP, Head of Strategic Accounts & Business Development, the position is responsible for recruiting new RIA and Independent Broker Dealer account relationships for Highland's life and annuity sales teams. This position also works closely with Highland's Strategic Accounts team to cultivate new business opportunities alongside Highland's RIA and IBD partners and Sales Leadership.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, Onboard and Launch RIA and Independent Broker Dealer relationships for Highland.
  • Responsible for being a primary B2B recruiting contact for Highland's RIA and Independent Broker Dealer channel
  • Perform Business Development with Account COIs alongside Sales Team
  • Be the differentiator for Highland in the marketplace by driving proactive top-down business development initiatives in partnership with Strategic Account team, the RIA and IBD partners and Sales Management.
  • Identify potential growth opportunities within the account and strategize with Head of Strategic Accounts on how to capitalize on the opportunity
  • ie. develop a plan to recruit hybrid RIAs working with existing IBD relationships
  • Track new relationship recruiting activity and effectively communicate progress to Leadership
  • Represent Highland at industry meeting and account specific events as needed

Basic Requirements:

  • Previous experience in insurance relationship management and RIA distribution.
  • Experience developing and executing business development strategies with measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex relationships across national accounts, RIAs, and Independent Broker Dealers.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills, both in virtual and inperson settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, interpret business data, and recommend solutions.
  • Collaborative approach, with the ability to work closely with Strategic Accounts, Sales Leadership, and COIs.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in insurance business development in the RIA and Independent BD space.
  • Post-grad degree and/or finance certifications (CLU, ChFC, CFP etc.)
