Status: Full-Time | Exempt

Prolec GE Waukesha is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support our heavy manufacturing operations and help us deliver highquality products efficiently and safely. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, procurement, installation, and maintenance of production and facilities equipment. You will partner closely with operations, design engineering, maintenance, and shop personnel to ensure optimized manufacturing processes, improved equipment performance, and a safer workplace.

What You'll Do:

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing equipment and make recommendations to meet present and future requirements.
  • Develop multiple solution options for assigned projects and present recommendations based on detailed data.
  • Prepare specifications and requirements for equipment installation and foundations.
  • Collaborate closely with product/design engineering to ensure designs support efficient manufacturing while maintaining product quality.
  • Design new fixtures and modify existing equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Develop specifications for new equipment and work with suppliers to evaluate proposals.
  • Partner with maintenance and shop employees to implement equipment and facility improvements.
  • Design, modify, install, and troubleshoot plant utilities and material-handling systems (electrical, water, gas, HVAC, air, etc.) as they relate to manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain detailed project data, including cost analysis, and regularly communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Lead and support safety initiatives in alignment with a zero-harm culture.
  • Participate in Lean activities such as kaizen events, continuous improvement teams, 5S, and pull system audits.
  • Support supervisors and operators with day-to-day production challenges and drive process improvements.
  • Stay current with advancements in manufacturing engineering and apply new insights to operations.
  • Train employees on new equipment and processes.

What You Bring:

Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
  • Strong process and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to guide and collaborate with nontechnical personnel.
  • Strong ethics, integrity, and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills-verbal, written, and presentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Experience creating/using AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge of structural systems, machine tooling, maintenance methods, and material handling.
  • Comfort working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance.
  • Experience with cost analysis and strong presentation skills.

Work Environment

  • Mix of shop floor and office environment within a large manufacturing campus.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods.
