Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced General Superintendent/Project Manager on the Upper East Coast to plan and supervise construction of artificial turf fields from start to finish, specifically the base construction prior to turf installation. This includes attending pre-construction and progress meetings, witnessing proof rolls, day-to-day communication with subcontractors, site visits during construction, field verification of planarity and compaction, troubleshooting and problem-solving issues as they arise.

Each project has a duration of 2-10 weeks with an average budget of $500k. You will organize and oversee the construction process and ensure it is completed in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal candidate will have great communication skills and be able to work proficiently with multiple trades. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.

Responsibilities:

Travel to active and upcoming jobsites to evaluate project status

Simultaneously oversee multiple projects at one time

Identify and manage potential project risks

Read and interpret project plans, drawings and specifications

Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements

Verify that specifications, contracts and proposals are all aligned with respect to scope and price

Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports

Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues

Skills:

Proven experience as construction project manager
In-depth knowledge of civil construction including but not limited to mass grading, concrete work, drainage systems, gathering stone quantities, proof rolls, soil classifications, drawing and plans understanding, and planarity testing

In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles

Familiarity with quality and health and safety standards

Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

Excellent organizational and time-management skills

A team player with leadership abilities
