The Department of Anthropology in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at the University of Iowa invites applications for a visiting faculty position beginning August 2026. This is an entirely teaching position with no research or service expectations or time allocation. A full-time teaching load in this position is the equivalent of 4 standard courses in each of the Fall and Spring semesters. Appointments of at least 50% in each semester carry standard University of Iowa benefits. Appointments are for one academic year and may be renewable up to a maximum of three years total, depending on Department teaching need and College approval. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Anthropology, Global Health Studies, or a closely related field by the starting date to qualify for the position. Visiting faculty will often work in a team setting to develop courses and meet departmental curricular needs. The Department has a history of collaboration with campus partners, such as the Center for Teaching, the Office of Teaching, Learning, and Technology, and the Office of Academic Success and Retention, for course design, revision, and innovation. Visiting faculty may use these resources to develop research-supported instructional practices and tools to improve students' success.
